1. Scope and operator
This policy applies to the PowerTrackpad website, Mac application and local Trial, purchased licensing service, purchase fulfilment records received from our merchant of record, and support communications. In this policy, “PowerTrackpad”, “we”, “us”, and “our” mean the operator identified above.
PowerTrackpad acts as the data controller for information it decides to collect and use. Paddle separately acts as merchant of record and determines how it processes checkout and payment information under its own privacy notice.
2. Data that stays on your Mac
Gesture recognition happens locally. PowerTrackpad does not send your individual gestures, gesture history, rule contents, keyboard shortcuts, shell commands, URLs, application names, or file paths as analytics. Local onboarding and usage evidence—including distinct rules that worked, active and configured rule counts, and distinct usage days—remains on your Mac.
Your saved rules, 14-day Trial dates, onboarding progress, reminders, and local usage records stay on your Mac and are not sent to us. The app also stores the credentials and license confirmation needed to keep purchased Pro working locally.
3. Data we collect and its source
Website delivery
When you request a page or download, our hosting providers process network information such as your IP address, request time, requested page or file, browser information, response status, and security signals. Our page-request and download statistics use limited request details and approximate country, without retaining your IP address, browser information, referring page, cookies, or URL query parameters for that measurement. Section 5 explains these statistics and optional website analytics.
Local Trial
The 14-day Pro Trial starts locally when the configuration screen first opens. It does not require an account, email address, payment method, installation identity, or network request. PowerTrackpad does not receive a Trial start or expiry event and cannot link a later purchase or activation to the local Trial.
Purchased licensing
When you activate Pro, the app sends your license key, a randomly generated installation identifier and associated public security information, and app-version and license-compatibility information. We retain a protected reference to the license key, your license tier and activation allowance, activation status and count, installation identifiers, license confirmations, and relevant dates. The entered key is not retained from the activation request, and private installation credentials stay on your Mac. We do not collect hardware serial numbers, network-adapter addresses, hardware fingerprints, or local Trial data. A valid purchased license is then checked locally without recurring online checks.
Purchases
Paddle collects checkout and payment information directly. Paddle may provide us with your name, email address, country or region, product and price, transaction identifiers, payment status, refund or dispute status, and other information necessary for fulfilment, fraud prevention, accounting, and support. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number.
Support
If you contact us, we receive the address and name you use, message content, timestamps, and any files or diagnostic information you choose to provide. Please do not send passwords, private installation credentials, full payment-card details, or unrelated sensitive information.
4. Why we process data, and your choices
We use the information described above only to:
- deliver and secure the website and downloads;
- understand aggregate page-request and download demand and, with your consent, website usage;
- start and enforce the local Trial on this Mac without sending its record to us;
- issue, deliver, activate, and locally verify permanent Pro licenses;
- enforce the purchased cumulative two- or five-installation allowance and prevent further activation after payment revocation;
- fulfil purchases and handle refunds, disputes, fraud, and accounting;
- provide eligible Pro support, receive product feedback, and answer privacy requests; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect PowerTrackpad and its users.
Depending on the applicable law and context, processing is necessary to perform a contract or take steps you request, comply with law, pursue legitimate security and service interests, or act with your consent.
You may browse public information without creating an account. Support information is voluntary; without it, we may be unable to investigate or reply.
No data submission is required. Trial evidence remains in your macOS user account and is not synchronized across Macs or users.
Purchase, license, and installation records are required for paid activation. If you decline them, you may continue using Basic or any remaining local Trial but cannot activate purchased Pro.
We do not sell personal data, serve behavioural advertising, send marketing email without a separate lawful choice, or use personal data for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
5. Website analytics, cookies, and downloads
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers to measure page visits and interactions, browser and device information, and approximate location. Google processes your IP address to derive location but does not log or store it in Google Analytics. Your analytics choice is saved in this browser.
We also count successful requests for our website pages without cookies or visitor identifiers. This count does not depend on accepting Google Analytics. It uses the same limited request records and retention periods as the download statistics below, and keeps aggregate daily and all-time page-request totals indefinitely. Page requests include repeat requests and bots; they do not measure unique visitors. We do not retain IP addresses, browser information, referring pages, cookies, or URL query parameters for this measurement.
We count successful download requests to understand product interest and delivery reliability. These records contain the request date, request type, requested file, response status, and approximate country derived from the IP address; we do not store the IP address for this measurement. Request records expire after seven days, and records used only to prevent duplicate counting expire after eight days. We keep aggregate daily, all-time, and country totals indefinitely. These totals do not identify individual people, prove that a download completed, or measure app use, Trial use, purchases, or activations.
Website analytics are optional. If you select Accept analytics, the website loads Google Analytics after that choice to provide aggregate website-use reports. We do not load Google Analytics before your choice, send it your name, email address, license key, app data, gesture data, local Trial data, or a custom user identifier, or use it for advertising, remarketing, or ad personalisation. The site configuration disables Google Signals and advertising personalisation, so it does not request age, gender, interest, or cross-device demographics reporting. Google processes analytics data under its own Privacy Policy. Choose Reject analytics, or use the Analytics settings button, to stop future loading on this browser; changing your choice does not erase analytics already received by Google.
A future Paddle checkout may use cookies or similar technologies under Paddle's Privacy Notice. Those technologies are controlled by Paddle, not by the current PowerTrackpad landing page.
7. Processing outside Malaysia
PowerTrackpad is operated from Malaysia. Licensing records are hosted primarily in Singapore. Website delivery, analytics, payments, and email may involve processing in other countries where our providers and their service providers operate.
Where personal data is transferred outside Malaysia, we will assess the destination and provider safeguards and rely on a permitted transfer basis under applicable law. Foreign laws may differ from Malaysian law and may permit lawful access by authorities.
8. How long we keep data
- Routine service and licensing logs: 30 days.
- Local Trial and usage evidence: remains on your Mac; PowerTrackpad receives no Trial attribution record.
- Pending license emails: the recipient address and license key are kept encrypted for up to 30 days and removed after confirmed delivery or expiry.
- Perpetual-license and activation records: while the purchased licensing service is supported.
- Support correspondence: two years after the case closes.
- Purchase, payout, refund, tax, and accounting records: seven years, or longer when law requires.
- Encrypted backups: deletable data ages out within 90 days, except records governed by a longer legal schedule.
A specific record may be retained longer when documented security, abuse, dispute, litigation, or legal handling requires it.
9. Security and incidents
We use safeguards appropriate to the data and risk, including encryption, restricted access, limited data collection, and protected backups. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
If a personal-data breach creates a risk requiring notice, we will investigate, contain it, and notify the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Commissioner and affected individuals as required by applicable law.
10. Access, correction, deletion, and complaints
Subject to applicable law, you may ask whether we hold personal data about you and request access, correction, withdrawal of consent, restriction, or deletion. Email support@powertrackpad.com with the subject “Privacy request”. We may request proportionate information to verify your identity and protect another person's data.
Some records cannot be deleted immediately where they are required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, disputes, or another legal obligation. Before deleting an active license or installation record where deletion is available, we will explain any effect on activating or reactivating Pro and ask you to confirm.
Requests concerning checkout data controlled by Paddle should also be directed through Paddle's privacy channels. If a concern is not resolved, you may contact the Personal Data Protection Commissioner of Malaysia.
11. Children
PowerTrackpad is a general-purpose productivity utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly request children's personal data. A parent or guardian who believes a child supplied personal data may contact us to request review and deletion.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the product, providers, or law changes. The effective date and version will be revised, and material changes will be communicated where required. We will not silently apply a materially less protective use to data already collected where notice or consent is required.
